Owners Jami and Blake Miller: "We strive to put the environment and safety first whenever possible. Our ingredients are organically grown, farm-to-table products raised and grown by local Michigan farmers whenever possible. You’ll never forget our vibrant Mediterranean cuisine. Immerse yourself in the smells and tastes at Pita Cruiser for lunch or dinner."
What three differences make Pita Cruiser a "must" while in Charlevoix?
Our business differences are our
signature menu items,
compostable packaging, and
fantastic customer service.
What product do you offer that you might not find elsewhere downtown? Our menu is filled with an artisanal of dishes that you may not find at other restaurants in Charlevoix. Our Chicken Shawarma and Grandma's Falafel are top-notch and are made daily with fresh ingredients.
What service does your business provide that is different than most others? We offer drop-off catering. We will bring a Pita Bar to your home or location, which is a fun way to entertain a group.
Owners' experience and background: Jami and Blake started the food truck in 2014 as a hobby and for their love of Mediterranean Food. The concept took off and they traveled throughout Michigan for festivals and events while having a full-time spot in Ann Arbor at Mark's Carts. When they aren't serving succulent Pita they also own Expert Finishes and specialize in painting, power washing, and refinishing log homes. The new brick-and-mortar Mediterranean restaurant opened in April of 2024 and is located at 311 Bridge Street in downtown Charlevoix.
What is something about your business that customers do not expect? Customers do not expect our food to be so fresh and delicious with generous portions. We like to give our customers a quality experience and we want them to leave our restaurant feeling satisfied.
Do you have employees? If so, share ways that you help make them feel valued. Yes, we have 5 amazing employees 1 of those is our daughter who has worked with us since the beginning. We are family-owned and operated and couldn't do it without our crew. Our staff works with the food every day and learns about the recipes and what goes into making it. This gives them the confidence to know our products and better serve our customers. We value them by great compensation, work-life balance, feeding them, and an end-of-season team experience.
What is one of your favorite customer testimonials your Mediterranean restaurant has received?
Customers who have visited comment that our Chicken Shawarma tastes like their homeland or that our Falafel is the best this side of Egypt. It makes us proud. We are very thoughtful with our recipes and some are passed down from family.
Why did you choose to own a business in downtown Charlevoix? Jami grew up in Charlevoix so there is no other place she would want to have a business.
To be able to offer the community, my friends, and my family this type of cuisine and live, work and raise my family here means so much to me.
